Message Minute (Faith and Science in Harmony)

"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding." — Proverbs 9:10

Have you heard people say that science and faith are enemies? That's simply not true. For centuries, many of history's greatest scientists were devout believers who saw their work as "thinking God's thoughts after Him." Even today, numerous scientists find that their discoveries point them toward God, not away from Him.

Dr. Allan Sandage, one of the world's greatest cosmologists, said, "It is my science that drove me to believe in God." Francis Collins, who led the Human Genome Project, calls DNA "the language of God." These brilliant minds don't see conflict between scientific discovery and faith—they see harmony.

True science asks "how" questions—how does the universe work, how do cells function, how do ecosystems sustain themselves. Faith asks "why" questions—why are we here, why does the universe exist at all, why do we have a sense of purpose? Together, they give us a more complete picture of reality.

When we approach both science and faith with humility, we discover that the God who created the universe is the same God who invites us to know Him personally. His fingerprints are all over creation—both in what we can see through microscopes and telescopes, and in what we can only perceive with our hearts.

Reflection Question: In what ways have scientific discoveries strengthened your faith rather than challenged it?

Prayer: God of wisdom, thank You that faith and science aren't enemies but different lenses for seeing Your truth. Help me approach both with humility and wonder. When I learn something new about Your creation, let it draw me closer to You rather than push me away. Give me the confidence to embrace both faith and reason as gifts from You. Amen.
