Message Minute (Putting God First)

Our financial decisions reveal our priorities more clearly than perhaps any other area of life. Jesus said, "Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." When we choose to give God the first portion of our income rather than what's left over, we make a powerful declaration about what—and Who—matters most to us. Tithing requires faith. It means giving off the top, before meeting our own needs or wants. This practice teaches us to depend on God in a tangible way. By prioritizing Him first in our finances, we're sending our hearts in the direction we want them to follow. Think about your current giving practices. Are you giving God your first and best, or are you giving Him what's convenient after everything else is taken care of? The call to tithe challenges us to restructure our finances around God's priorities rather than our own. This isn't easy, it may require sacrifices and changes, but the spiritual realignment it creates in our hearts is priceless.

Verse: "The purpose of tithing is to teach you always to put God first in your lives." Deuteronomy 14:23

Reflection Question: What changes would you need to make in your financial life to truly put God first through tithing?

Prayer: Father, I confess that I often put my own needs and wants before You. Help me to reorder my priorities and put You first, not just in my words but in my actions and finances. Give me the courage to make whatever changes are necessary to honor You with the first fruits of all I receive. Amen.
