Message Minute (Your Body Matters to God)

"So God created mankind in his own image... God saw all that he had made, and it was very good." - Genesis 1:27, 31

Many Christians have been taught that physical bodies are just temporary shells—vessels we're stuck in until we can finally escape to a purely spiritual existence. But this isn't biblical Christianity; it's Greek philosophy sneaking into our theology.

God declared physical bodies "very good" at creation. When He wanted to reveal Himself most fully, the Word became flesh. Jesus took on a real body—one that got hungry, tired, and felt pain. Even after His resurrection, He went out of His way to prove He wasn't a ghost, eating fish with His disciples and inviting Thomas to touch His scars.

Your body isn't something to escape from or merely tolerate. God cares deeply about your physical existence because He designed you as an integrated whole. The Christian hope isn't leaving your body behind—it's getting it back, perfected and eternal.

Reflection: How does knowing that God values your physical body change the way you view yourself today?

Prayer: Father, thank You that You created bodies and called them good. Help me see my physical self through Your eyes—not as something to escape, but as something You care about deeply. Teach me to steward this body well while eagerly awaiting the perfected version You promise. Amen.
