Message Minute (Death Doesn't Win)

"When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: 'Death has been swallowed up in victory.'" - 1 Corinthians 15:54

There's something primal in human beings that recoils at death, and rightfully so. Deep down, everyone knows something's wrong about it. Bodies weren't made for decay. Souls weren't designed for separation. Everything within screams this isn't how it's supposed to be.

Death entered as an intruder, a consequence of the Fall. But here's the stunning truth: God's solution isn't to let death have the final word by keeping us permanently disembodied. His solution is resurrection, death itself being swallowed up in victory.

When Christ returns, death won't win by taking our bodies. Victory comes through getting them back. The perishable clothes itself with imperishability. The mortal with immortality. And death—which seemed so final, so terrifying, so ultimate—becomes defeated, powerless, meaningless.

This is why Christians can face death differently than those without hope. Not because death isn't real or doesn't hurt, but because it's not final. Resurrection morning is coming.

Reflection: How does believing in bodily resurrection change the way you think about death, either your own or that of loved ones who knew Jesus?

Prayer: Victorious Lord, thank You that death doesn't get the last word. When fear of mortality creeps in, remind me that resurrection is coming. Give me courage to face whatever lies ahead, knowing that death has already been defeated through Christ. Amen.
