Message Minute (Living with Purpose)

"But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God." - Acts 20:24

Paul's statement sounds extreme until considering what gives life actual meaning. He wasn't being morbid or self-destructive. Rather, he recognized that existence without purpose feels hollow. For him, that purpose centered on completing the assignment Jesus gave him: sharing the message of God's grace.

This kind of clarity about purpose transforms how challenges are perceived. Obstacles become less about personal inconvenience and more about whether they derail the mission. Suffering matters less when measured against the significance of the work. This doesn't mean pain disappears or difficulties don't hurt—but they're held within a larger framework of meaning.

Every follower of Christ has been given work to complete. The specifics vary by person, but the core remains constant: reflecting God's grace to a world that desperately needs it. Living with this confident purpose means evaluating decisions, relationships, and opportunities through the lens of that divine assignment.

Reflection: What work has God assigned you, and how are you stewarding that calling?

Prayer: Jesus, help me discover and embrace the specific work You've assigned. May my life be spent not chasing comfort but completing Your purposes. Give me clarity about the mission and courage to pursue it wholeheartedly. Amen.
