Message Minute (The Currency of Life)

Life runs on trust. From the moment we wake up and sit in a chair to the time we lay down to sleep, we exercise trust countless times throughout our day. We trust our vehicles, our phones, our food sources, and countless other things. But the most important question is: where do we place our ultimate trust? Trust is more than passive belief—it's active surrender. When we truly trust something or someone, we demonstrate it through our actions. This is especially true in our relationship with God. We may say we trust Him, but our actions, particularly regarding our finances, often tell a different story. Many of us hold our financial lives "above the water" like those early Christian soldiers who kept their swords dry during baptism. We're willing to surrender every other area to God, but we maintain tight control over our money. Yet Jesus taught that our relationship with money serves as the most visible measurement of our trust in God.

Verse: "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." - Matthew 6:21

Reflection Question: What areas of your financial life are you still holding "above the water," reluctant to surrender to God's control?

Prayer: Lord, help me recognize where I've been hesitant to fully trust You. Show me the areas where I've been keeping control instead of surrendering to Your wisdom and guidance. Give me the courage to lower my "sword" fully into the water, trusting that Your ways are better than mine. Amen.
