Message Minute (Wake Up to Sacred Time)

Time is a sacred gift, not merely a commodity to be spent. In today's fast-paced world, we often find ourselves caught in what the sermon describes as "time poverty" — feeling busy, exhausted, and maxed out despite our modern conveniences. We measure our days in minutes and hours, yet somehow feel we never have enough. The Jewish understanding of time, which influenced Jesus' own approach, views certain moments as "sacred spaces" within chronological time where we can encounter God. Like a cathedral built not of stone but of moments, these spaces invite us to step out of the rush and into divine presence. Consider how Jesus Himself moved through time — unhurried, interruptible, and completely secure in His Father's timing. Despite having the most important mission in human history, He spent thirty years in relative obscurity before His public ministry. He often withdrew to pray, seemingly "wasting" precious time when there were crowds waiting to be healed. Yet in doing so, He revealed a profound truth: our value isn't in how much we accomplish, but in whose we are.

Verse: "This is why it is said: 'Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.'" — Ephesians 5:14

Reflection Question: Where in your schedule can you create a "cathedral in time" — a sacred space to encounter God this week?

Prayer: Father, forgive me for treating time as merely a commodity to be spent or saved. Awaken me to Your presence in each moment. Help me to see my days through Your eyes, and to create sacred spaces where I can encounter You amidst the rush of life. May Christ shine on me as I rise from the slumber of busyness. Amen.
