Message Minute (The Blessing of Obedience)

God rarely invites us to test Him—but tithing is the exception. In Malachi, He challenges us to test His faithfulness through our obedience in tithing, promising to pour out blessing in response. This isn't about God being a cosmic slot machine, but rather about experiencing His provision in ways that build our trust. Many who practice tithing discover a surprising truth: 90% with God's blessing stretches further than 100% without it. This doesn't always mean financial prosperity, though that can be part of it. God's blessings come in many forms—stronger relationships, spiritual growth, peace amid uncertainty, or resources appearing at just the right time. When we withhold the tithe, Scripture says we're actually robbing God. This strong language shows how seriously God takes this practice. It's not just about the money—it's about acknowledging His lordship and trusting His provision.

Verse: "Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it." Malachi 3:10

Reflection Question: What's holding you back from testing God's promise of blessing through faithful tithing?

Prayer: God, I confess my reluctance to fully trust You with my finances. Help me to take You at Your word and test Your promise of blessing through faithful tithing. Open my eyes to see Your provision in all its forms and strengthen my faith as I step out in obedience. Amen.
