Message Minute (Bringing Darkness to Light)

“ If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” - 1 John 1:9

The word "confess" doesn't mean grovel or beg. It literally means "to say the same thing," to agree with God about what's true. To bring things into the light instead of hiding them in darkness. And God's response? Forgiveness. Purification. Restoration. Not condemnation.

Here's what happens when we're honest with God: darkness can't coexist with light. Shame thrives in secrecy, but it dies when exposed to grace. God isn't shocked by what's in the locked rooms of your heart. He's standing at those doors saying, "Let Me in. Let Me love you there. Let Me heal you there."

Stop praying the prayers you think God wants to hear. Stop using church language to dress up your real thoughts. Just talk to Him like He's sitting across from you at coffee. "God, I'm really struggling with..." "God, I'm terrified about..." "God, I'm angry at You for..." Whatever it is, just say it. He already knows, He's just waiting for you to be honest so He can do something with it.

Reflection: What's one honest prayer you've been afraid to pray? Will you pray it today?

Pray: God, here's what's really going on in my heart... [be honest]. Thank You for meeting my honesty with grace, not condemnation. Amen.
