Message Minute (Forgetting God's Faithfulness)

“The misfits among the people had a craving and soon they had the People of Israel whining, “Why can’t we have meat? We ate fish in Egypt—and got it free!—to say nothing of the cucumbers and melons, the leeks and onions and garlic. But nothing tastes good out here; all we get is manna, manna, manna.” – Numbers 11:4-6

The Israelites had been slaves under Egyptian whips less than a year before complaining about boring food. They forgot where they came from and what God had rescued them from. Envy has a way of erasing memory—making us oblivious to God's past goodness.

When we forget how faithful God has been, we start acting like He owes us more. We lose perspective on what we actually deserve. Apart from God's grace, we deserve judgment. Instead, we're children of God with His Spirit inside us and a promised inheritance that can't be taken away.

Think about the incredible kindness of God in saving you through Jesus. Let that produce assurance—the God who delivered you didn't do it just to abandon you now. At this point, God has more invested in your life than you do! The cross proves that no good thing will He withhold from His children.

Reflect: What are three specific ways God has been faithful to you this past year? How does remembering His past goodness change your perspective on your current situation?

Prayer: Lord, forgive me for my short memory. Help me remember where You've brought me from and how faithful You've been. When envy whispers that You owe me more, remind me of the cross—the ultimate proof of Your goodness and generosity. Amen.
