Message Minute (The Call to Follow)

Our culture tells us to trust ourselves, follow our hearts, and build our own kingdoms. Yet Jesus offers a radically different path. He invites us to deny ourselves and follow Him instead. This isn't about self-improvement—it's about transformation through relationship with Christ. Following Jesus means surrendering the throne of our lives and acknowledging Him as King. It means walking so closely in His footsteps that we're covered in the dust of our Rabbi. When we truly grasp this calling, we realize that discipleship isn't a program or a checklist—it's a lifelong journey of becoming more like Jesus. Each day presents new opportunities to choose His way over our own, to learn from His wisdom rather than worldly advice, and to find our identity in His love rather than our accomplishments.

Verse: The he said to the crowd, "If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow me.” Luke 9:23 NLT

Reflection Question: In what areas of your life are you still trying to be your own king instead of following Jesus?

Prayer: Lord Jesus, forgive me for the times I've tried to build my own kingdom instead of seeking Yours. Help me to deny myself daily and follow You wholeheartedly. Give me the courage to surrender control and trust Your leadership in every area of my life. Amen.
