Message Minute (Kindness Flows Through You)

“Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.” Galatians 6:10

When Paul lists the fruit of the Spirit, the Greek word for kindness is chrestotes. It describes something useful, something that makes life easier for others. It was even used for a well-fitted yoke that did not rub an ox raw.

Jesus used that picture when He said, “My yoke is easy and my burden is light.” A good yoke softens the rough edges. That is what biblical kindness does. It takes what is harsh and makes it bearable.

The same kindness that drew you to Christ is the kindness the Spirit now grows in you to draw others to Him. Kindness was never meant to stop with you. It was meant to flow through you.

Galatians 6:10 keeps it practical: as we have opportunity. Opportunities rarely look dramatic. They look like a coworker who is struggling, a spouse who is exhausted, a neighbor who needs a hand, a teenager who needs patience more than a lecture. Paul says do good to all people, especially the family of believers.

Strangely, it is often easier to be kind to strangers than to family. Yet relationships are where kindness proves real. The people closest to us can end up getting our worst. A gentle tone, a listening ear, a quick text, a dish washed without being asked. Small acts become a picture of God’s heart. None of them go unnoticed by Him. Each one is seen.

Ask the Spirit to open your eyes today. The opportunities are already there. Kindness simply notices them and moves.

Reflection: Who close to me has been getting my rough edges lately, and what is one useful act of kindness I can offer them today?

Prayer: Holy Spirit, grow Your kindness in me. Soften my rough edges and make me useful to the people around me. Help me notice the opportunities You place in my path, starting at home. Amen.
