Message Minute (Trust God's Character When You Can't See His Plan)

“You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.” Genesis 50:20

Joseph didn't know why he was sold into slavery. He didn't know why he was falsely accused or forgotten in prison. He couldn't see the big picture from any of those experiences. But Joseph knew something crucial about God's character: God is good, God is sovereign, and God keeps His promises.

That knowledge sustained him through years of uncertainty. This is the foundation of unshakeable trust—it's not based on understanding God's methods but on knowing God's character. You don't have to see the whole plan to trust the One who made it.

Faith isn't blind optimism. It's informed confidence in God's character based on His proven track record. Think about the ways God has shown up in your life before. The prayers He's answered. The provision He's given. The protection you didn't even know you needed. That history of faithfulness gives you confidence to trust Him now, even when you can't understand what He's doing.

Romans 8:28 says, God works all things together for good for those who love Him. Not all things are good—betrayal isn't good, injustice isn't good—but God works them together for good. He's the master chef combining bitter ingredients into something nourishing.

Reflection Question: What evidence of God's faithfulness can you remember from your past? How can those memories strengthen your trust in Him today?

Prayer: Father, when circumstances confuse me, anchor me in Your character. You are good, sovereign, and faithful. Help me trust who You are even when I don't understand what You're doing. Amen.
