Message Minute (God is Writing a Story Bigger Than Your Chapter)

“But Joseph said to them, ‘Don’t be afraid. Am I in the place of God? You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives. So then, don’t be afraid. I will provide for you and your children.’ And he reassured them and spoke kindly to them.” Genesis 50:19-21

Joseph's brothers stood before him, terrified. Years earlier, they'd sold him into slavery and told their father he was dead. Now Joseph held their lives in his hands. But instead of revenge, Joseph spoke words that reveal a profound truth: "You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good."

From the pit where his brothers threw him, Joseph couldn't see the palace. From the prison cell where he sat falsely accused, he couldn't understand the plan. But God was orchestrating something far greater than Joseph could imagine from any single chapter of his story.

The same is true for you. That setback you're facing isn't the end—it might be the setup. The disappointment that feels like it derailed everything could be God's redirection toward something better. When a train goes through a tunnel and gets dark, you don't throw away the ticket and jump off. You sit still and trust the Engineer.

God is combining ingredients in your life that might taste bitter on their own—delays, disappointments, even betrayals—to create something beautiful you can't see while experiencing the individual moments.

Reflection Question: What current situation feels random or meaningless? How might God be working on a bigger story than you can see from this chapter?

Prayer: Father, help me trust that You're writing a story bigger than my current chapter. When things don't make sense, remind me that You see the whole picture. Give me faith to trust Your plan even when I can't see it. Amen.
