Message Minute (Opening Our Doors)

"Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling." - 1 Peter 4:9

Summer has this amazing way of drawing us outside, doesn't it? The longer days, the warm evenings, the smell of barbecue drifting through neighborhoods. There's something about this season that naturally pulls us toward each other. Maybe it's the vacation mindset or the fact that we're not all bundled up and rushing from car to building. Whatever it is, summer feels like God's invitation to slow down and actually see the people around us.

Hospitality isn't just about having the perfect Pinterest-worthy home or being an amazing cook. It's about opening our lives to others, creating space where people feel welcomed and valued. Your hospitality might look like inviting neighbors over for burgers, organizing a potluck in the park, or simply keeping cold drinks in your fridge for unexpected visitors.

This summer, what if we stopped waiting for the "right time" to connect with others? What if we embraced the beautiful messiness of real community? Your house doesn't need to be spotless, your lawn doesn't need to be magazine-ready, and you don't need to be the most outgoing person in the room. You just need to be willing to share your life with others.

God designed us for community. He knows we're better together than we are alone. This summer, let's accept His invitation to prioritize the people He's placed in our path.

Reflection Question: What's one simple way you could practice hospitality this week?

Prayer: God, help me see summer not just as my time to relax, but as an opportunity to love others well. Give me courage to open my door and my heart to the community around me. Amen.
