Message Minute (Ask, Seek, Knock, and Keep Going)

"So I say to you, ask and keep on asking, and it will be given to you; seek and keep on seeking, and you will find; knock and keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who keeps on asking persistently, receives; and he who keeps on seeking persistently, finds; and to him who keeps on knocking persistently, the door will be opened." – Luke 11:9-10 (AMP)

New roads, new rivers, and new life rarely arrive without some persistence involved. Jesus doesn't describe a single request followed by an instant answer. He describes ongoing action: asking and keep on asking, seeking and keep on seeking, knocking and keep on knocking. The repetition isn't accidental. It's the entire point.

This kind of persistence isn't about wearing God down or convincing Him to finally cooperate. It's about staying engaged with Him through the process, especially through the gradually seasons that come before any suddenly. Giving up after one prayer or one attempt often means missing the new thing right as it's about to break through.

There's also something clarifying about persistent asking. It reveals what's actually being pursued and how much it matters. A door only gets knocked on repeatedly when someone genuinely wants what's on the other side. Whatever new road, new provision, or new life feels distant right now, this passage offers a clear invitation: don't stop after the first try. Keep asking. Keep seeking. Keep knocking. The door is not locked forever.

Reflection: What have I stopped asking God for too soon, and what would it look like to bring that request back to Him with fresh persistence?

Prayer: God, forgive me for giving up too quickly on things I've brought to You before. Give me the patience to keep asking, keep seeking, and keep knocking. I trust that You hear me, and I trust that You will open the door in Your time. Amen.
