Message Minute (Flood to Floor)

"The priests who carried the ark stopped in the middle of the Jordan and stood on dry ground, while all Israel passed by until the whole nation had completed the crossing on dry ground."  Joshua 3:17

The very thing that looked like the greatest obstacle, a flooded, impassable river, became solid ground under an entire nation's feet. God didn't just get His people past the flood; He turned the flood into the floor they walked on. The place that seemed most likely to end the story became the place where the miracle was most visible.

Whatever feels flooded right now: a fear, an unknown, a season that hasn't resolved, isn't necessarily something to be rescued from. It may be the very ground God intends to make solid. Millions of people walked across on dry land that day, and not one of them could have predicted it while still standing on the near bank.

The name over that crossing was Joshua or Yehoshua meaning the Lord saves; the same name later carried by Jesus, who crossed the hardest water there is and came out on the other side so no one would ever have to cross alone. New ground was never meant to be walked without Him already standing in the middle of it, waiting for the rest of the family to arrive.

Reflection: What flooded situation in my life is God asking me to trust Him to turn into solid ground?

Prayer: God, thank You for going ahead of me into the hardest water there is. Turn what feels unstable in my life into ground I can stand on. Help me remember that You don't just get me through the flood, You make it the floor. Amen.
