Message Minute (Not Apathetic, But Attentive)
"Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. So when he heard that Lazarus was sick, he stayed where he was two more days." — John 11:5-6
That word "so" should stop every reader in their tracks. Jesus loved them, so He stayed? That's not how love is supposed to work. Love is supposed to rush in, not linger.
But Jesus wasn't being careless. He knew exactly what He was doing. Mary and Martha were praying for healing. Jesus was planning a resurrection. The delay wasn't apathy; the delay was the love itself, aimed at something far bigger than what anyone was asking for.
Sometimes the reason nothing has happened yet isn't because God stopped caring. It's because what's coming is bigger than the ask.
Reflection: Is there a prayer of mine that feels unanswered right now? What might change if I viewed that delay as intentional rather than careless?
Prayer: Father, my waiting has felt like being forgotten, but Lazarus's story tells me a different truth. Help me trust that delay and love can exist together. Whatever You're doing in my life, let me receive it with open hands. Amen.
