Message Minute (The God Who Sees)

Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden. But the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?” He answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.” - Genesis 3:8-10

Adam and Eve heard God walking in the garden and immediately hid. Not because God changed, but because shame made them run. Notice God's response: "Where are you?" He wasn't confused, He knew exactly where they were hiding. This was an invitation back to relationship.

We do the same thing. When we mess up, struggle, or feel exposed, our first instinct is to hide from God. We sanitize our prayers, guard our worship, and keep certain parts of our lives off-limits. But here's the truth: God already sees everything. The thoughts that embarrass you, the sins you're hiding, the doubts you won't voice, He knows it all. And He's not waiting for you to clean up. He's waiting for you to come close.

The gift God wants most this Christmas isn't your perfection. It's your proximity. He doesn't want you to have it all together. He wants you to let Him love you while you're still falling apart.

Reflection: What parts of your life are you keeping hidden from God? What would it look like to stop hiding this week?

Pray: Father, it's exhausting trying to hide from You. Help me believe that You already know everything about me and love me anyway. Give me courage to bring my real self into Your presence. Amen.
