Message Minute (The Touch of Faith)

"Who touched me?" Jesus asked... "Someone touched me; I know that power has gone out from me." Luke 8:45-46

The bleeding woman had heard about Jesus and devised a desperate plan. She wasn't supposed to be in public, her condition made her ceremonially unclean. But maybe, just maybe, she could steal a miracle without being noticed. She'd touch the hem of His garment and slip away healed.

When Jesus felt power leave Him, He stopped everything. "Who touched me?" Peter pointed out the obvious—everyone was touching Him in the crowded street. But Jesus knew the difference between casual contact and a touch of faith.

Lots of people brush up against Jesus during the holidays. Church services get attended. Prayers get said. But how many are truly reaching out in desperate faith, believing He can heal what's broken?

Jesus refused to let this woman remain anonymous. He gave her an opportunity to identify herself, to step forward trembling and tell her story before everyone. Why? Because healing her body wasn't enough. He wanted her to experience something greater, being fully known and fully loved.

The last thing she wanted was exposure. But Jesus knew that stolen miracles leave shame intact. True healing requires coming into the light.

Reflection: Are you casually touching Jesus or desperately reaching for Him in faith? What's the difference?

Prayer: Lord, help me move beyond casual contact with You. Give me faith to reach out desperately, believing You can heal what's been broken for so long. Amen.
