Message Minute (Anchor in Character)

"The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. They are new every morning; great is his faithfulness." – Lamentations 3:22-23

Depression often whispers that God has forgotten us, abandoned us, or worse—turned against us. Jeremiah felt it too. He compared God to a bear lying in wait, to a hunter with arrows aimed. But then he did something revolutionary: he anchored himself in what he knew about God's character instead of what he felt about his circumstances.

God is a good Father who doesn't enjoy our suffering. Think about taking a child for vaccinations—the momentary pain breaks a parent's heart even though they know it's necessary. How much more does God grieve with us in our hardest moments?

The proof is everywhere. He saved people He didn't have to save. He sent Jesus when He could have walked away. He paints sunsets most people will never see and designs snowflakes that never repeat. This is not a God who does anything halfway.

But remembering His character won't happen automatically. We have to deliberately call it to mind. Speak it out loud. Drown out the lies with truth.

Reflection: What truth about God's character do you need to preach to yourself today?

Prayer: Father, when feelings lie about who You are, anchor us in truth. Your love never ends. Your mercies are fresh this morning. You are faithful even when we can't feel it. Help us believe it.
