Message Minute (Trusting Without Seeing)

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." - Proverbs 3:5-6

Years later, Benaiah faced his hardest assignment yet. King Solomon commanded him to execute Joab, a powerful general who had served under David (1 Kings 2:34). This wasn't fighting a beast—it was navigating a messy, complicated situation where Benaiah couldn't see the full picture.

Why did this have to happen? Was there another way? Benaiah didn't have all the answers, but he had clear instructions from God's appointed king. So he obeyed, trusting God's wisdom over his own understanding.

Unshakeable faith doesn't require a complete roadmap before taking the first step. It means trusting that God sees what you can't and knows what you don't. Sometimes obedience feels confusing, even wrong, because you're operating with limited information. But God isn't limited. His understanding is infinite, and His ways accomplish purposes far beyond what's visible in the moment.

Benaiah's obedience "established Solomon's kingdom" (1 Kings 2:46). He couldn't have predicted that outcome, but God could. When you submit your ways to God—even when it's difficult, even when you don't understand—He's straightening paths you haven't walked yet. Your trust today is paving roads for tomorrow.

Reflection Question: Where are you trying to lean on your own understanding instead of trusting God's direction? What would obedience look like even without seeing the full picture?

Prayer: Lord, we confess we want to understand everything before we obey. Teach us to trust Your heart when we can't see Your hand. Help us submit our ways to You, believing You'll make our paths straight even when they feel crooked right now. Amen.
