Message Minute (What Are You Living For?)

"Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits—who forgives all your sins..." - Psalm 103:2-3

In quiet moments, everyone wrestles with an uncomfortable question: What am I living for? When someone wakes up each morning, what gets them out of bed? What gives their life meaning?

Many people live for things that are unreliable or temporary. They chase success in their careers, but industries change. They depend on relationships, but people disappoint. They pursue health, but bodies age. They seek financial security, but markets fluctuate.

When these things get threatened or taken away, people panic. They despair. They feel like their lives are over.

But what if there were beautiful things someone could build their life on that could never be taken away? Things that never fail or leave them empty?

King David discovered such benefits that God provides. These aren't just nice religious concepts—they're life-or-death necessities. The beautiful things David talks about in Psalm 103 are different from worldly pursuits. They can't be taken away, don't fluctuate with circumstances, and don't depend on performance.

Everyone's searching for peace of mind, healing, hope, love, satisfaction, and energy to keep going. But most people are looking in all the wrong places, trying to manufacture what God has already provided.

Reflection: What are you currently living for? How reliable are those things?

Prayer: God, help me recognize the temporary things I've been depending on and open my heart to the beautiful, lasting things You want to give me. Show me what it means to build my life on You alone.
