Message Minute (Rekindling Your Soul)
"He refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name's sake." - Psalm 23:3
There's something about summer that awakens our souls! Maybe it's the way sunsets seem to last forever, or how fireflies turn an ordinary evening into magic. Maybe it's the sound of thunderstorms rolling in, or the simple pleasure of cold watermelon on a hot day.
Your soul—that deepest part of you where you connect with God—sometimes gets buried under the weight of responsibilities and routines. Summer gives us permission to let it breathe again. To remember that you're not just a human doing, but a human being.
David knew about soul refreshment. Even as a busy king with enormous responsibilities, he made time to notice how God refreshed his soul. He paid attention to how God guided him along right paths, not just efficient ones.
What refreshes your soul? Is it music that makes you feel closer to God? Is it conversations with friends who know your heart? Is it creating something beautiful with your hands? Is it serving others and seeing God's love in action?
This summer, give yourself permission to do more of whatever makes your soul come alive. Not because it's productive or impressive, but because God delights in your joy. He created you with unique ways of connecting with Him, and when you honor those, you're honoring Him.
Maybe your soul is refreshed by early morning prayer walks, or late evening conversations with God under the stars. Maybe it's through gardening, cooking, painting, or playing music. Maybe it's through deep friendship or quiet solitude. There's no wrong way to let God refresh your soul.
The key is being intentional about it. Your soul won't accidentally get refreshed in the margins of a busy life. It needs space, attention, and care.
Reflection Question: What activities or practices consistently refresh your soul, and how can you prioritize them this summer?
Prayer: Father, thank You for creating my soul with such capacity for joy and connection with You. Refresh me deeply this summer. Help me notice and nurture the ways You speak to my heart. Guide me along Your paths of life and peace. Amen.
