Message Minute (Who Do You Need to Warn?)

"Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my family, for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment." - Luke 16:27-28

In Jesus' parable about the rich man and Lazarus, something striking happens. The rich man, now in hell, doesn't ask to be rescued. Instead, his first thought is about his five brothers who are still alive. "Please warn them!" he begs.

There's something powerful about that moment. Even in his torment, his concern shifts to others who are heading down the same path.

Is there someone in your life you need to warn? Not in a preachy, judgmental way, but out of genuine love and concern? Maybe you've been putting off that conversation, waiting for the "right moment" that never seems to come.

In the 1800s, a man named Charles Peace was sentenced to death. When the chaplain visited him, Charles asked, "Do you really believe this stuff about hell and eternity? Because if I believed it, I would walk across all of England barefoot on glass just to tell one person about Jesus Christ."

How spoiled are we that we don't have to walk barefoot on glass? We just have to walk across the hallway, the street, or the cubicle next to us. We don't need dramatic gestures - just honest conversations.

You can't force someone to believe, but you can at least tell them about the narrow gate. You can share what Jesus means to you and why you've chosen to follow Him.

Reflection Question: Who in your life needs to hear about Jesus, and what's holding you back from having that conversation?

Prayer: God, bring to mind someone who needs to hear about You. Give me wisdom, courage, and the right words to share Your love with them. Help me be faithful to warn those I care about. Amen.
