Message Minute (Abraham's Three-Day Journey)

"Some time later God tested Abraham...Take your son, your only son, whom you love—Isaac—and go to the region of Moriah." - Genesis 22:1-2

Imagine Abraham's shock. After waiting 25 years for the promised son, after Isaac finally arrived as proof of God's faithfulness, God asks the unthinkable: sacrifice him. This wasn't just his son—Isaac was his everything. His legacy, his joy, his proof that God keeps promises.

For three days Abraham walked toward Mount Moriah. Three days of internal wrestling. Day one: "Maybe I misheard." Day two: "How can God ask me to destroy what He promised?" Day three: something shifted. Abraham told his servants, "We will come back"—not "I will come back," but "we."

Abraham moved from confusion to trust, from anxiety to faith, from controlling the outcome to surrendering to God's character. His anxiety wasn't caused by his circumstances but by his need to understand and control them. When he released that need, peace replaced panic.

Sometimes hearts need time to catch up with God's leading. Don't make permanent decisions in the heat of emotion. Take time to pray, seek counsel, and let God shift perspective.

Reflection Question: What "three-day journey" are you currently on? What would it look like to trust God's character even when His methods don't make sense?

Prayer: Lord, I'm in the middle of my own journey, and I don't understand Your plan. Give me the courage to keep walking in obedience while trusting that You see what I cannot. Amen.
