Message Minute (The Right Kind of Subscription)

"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want." - Psalm 23:1

We live in a subscription economy where instead of owning things, we pay for access to experiences. This shift reveals something profound about human nature—deep down, we don't really want to own more stuff. What we want is access to experiences, relationships, and meaning.

The problem is we're subscribing to the wrong things. We pay monthly fees for entertainment that distracts rather than satisfies, platforms that connect us to information rather than people, and experiences that stimulate rather than fulfill. These subscriptions promise access but often leave us feeling more empty than before.

God offers the ultimate subscription plan. When someone enters into relationship with Him, they get unlimited access to everything that actually satisfies. Twenty-four-seven access to His peace when anxious, unlimited streaming of His love when feeling rejected, premium access to His wisdom when confused, and exclusive membership to His purposes when life feels meaningless.

Unlike earthly subscriptions, God's plan never expires, never gets cancelled, never increases in price, and never runs out of bandwidth. David could confidently say "I shall not want"—not because he stopped having desires, but because he had access to the One who satisfies every desire with good things.

This divine subscription includes access to things Amazon can't deliver: genuine peace of mind, authentic relationships, purpose and meaning, lasting joy and contentment, and hope for the future. These are the treasures that actually satisfy because they address the deepest needs of the human soul.

Reflection Question: What subscriptions or services are you currently paying for that promise satisfaction but don't deliver? How might you redirect that investment toward your relationship with God?

Prayer: Lord, thank You for offering unlimited access to everything my soul truly needs. Help me value Your subscription above all worldly alternatives. Amen.
